Independence Day

The fourth of July is a date on the calendar, Today I am celebrating Independence day.

As I traveled through the day I could not help but think of the troops in Iraq and how they fight daily for the freedom and Independence of that country. The enemies they fight are vast and broad. they are fighting a war for the Iraqi people that will give Iraq a semblance of freedom that is unheard of and feared in that part of the world. here they are fighting a war of public opinion that is just as deadly. When secret memos are leaked and published in the press it not only makes the job of our soldiers harder but also more deadly. When protesters who support the troops yet stand in front of military hospitals with signs that speak to everything except We support you it comes off as disingenuous and emboldens the enemy that America is not behind the fight for Iraqi Independence. This is a sad reality of freedom and while it angers me and I find it to be a very childish and unprincipled approach to life I appreciate the fact that we all, each and every one, have the freedom to do that here.

Many of the blogger's here at The Red Voice are veterans and one is active duty. So on the day that America celebrates our Independence from tyranny I would like to say thank you to all the blogger's that blog here at TRV. Let us not ever forget where the Freedom that makes this Country the greatest country on Earth came from. It was fought for with blood, sweat and tears from the patriots who serve or have served this country and I would like to thank them each and Every one.

For my Grandpa's who both fought Nazi tyranny in WW 2, My dad who fought communism in Viet-Nam and my Nephew who fought Muslim aggression in the first Gulf war .

Independence isn't about Hot Dogs and fireworks. It's about Freedom.
