“Real freedom will come when soldiers in Iraq turn their guns on their superiors.” That enlightening statement is indeed what many professors believe to be the best option for peace.
Professor John Daly, an English professor at Warren Community College, said the above quote to freshman Rebecca Beach in an email he sent her. The reason for this most open-minded statement was that an Iraq War veteran was coming to Warren Community College; Professor Daly was less than excited about such a prospect.
Daly told Rebecca that he would ask (demand) students in his English and writing classes to boycott the event and also vowed “to expose her right-wing, anti-people politics until groups like Rebecca’s won’t dare show their face on a college campus.”
As is constant with these spider-holes known as universities, the story did not end there. When Rebecca Beach reported Professor Daly to Warren Community College, President William Austin of Warren Community College said Professor John Daly has “first amendment rights” to harass Rebecca. In addition, he claimed Rebecca was ruining the college’s name by going on talk radio and television exposing Daly’s less than tolerant email.
But this whole thing makes sense, doesn’t it? In the People’s Republic of Boulder, University of Colorado Professor Ward Churchill was able to get away with exalting the terrorist on 9/11. He is allowed to go around the country demanding the United States be destroyed off the face of the Earth. He is even allowed to attack CU without punishment from the management of that university.
Therefore, in the wake of 1/16 Native American (yet somehow fully Native American at the same time) Ward Churchill, is it any surprise that such hateful comments go unpunished in the university setting? In fact, it was Rebecca Beach who was told to “shut up” by the college president.
Since the President Austin seems to think that Daly has his first amendment right to attack Beach, where is Beach’s first amendment right? She cannot say what she wants, but Daly can? That is a very interesting situation, especially in such an “open-minded and tolerant” setting such as a college.
It just goes to show you that there truly is no tolerance on the part of the Left. In fact, I would easily go so far as to say that the intolerance on the Left leaves any intolerance on the Right in the dust.
