Excuse the double post, but Susan Estrich has written an excellent column on the hatred of the left and how damaging it is to the party. For those unfamiliar with Estrich, she is an uncanny Democratic strategist and the first woman to run a presidential campaign. A pragmatic, passionate liberal advocate. Here's a small excerpt:
You can’t stand up for hate and reach out to the middle. You can’t lead with anger. You can’t call Bush a liar. You can’t insist on ideological purity with respect to issues that trouble people in the middle, like teenage abortion and gay marriage.
Estrich identifies and deals with the seething anger of the left and never mentions Sean Hannity.
