Forgive my 'sins of nourishment'

PETA leaves the most horrendously foul taste in my mouth than pretty much anything else on this planet. They have got to be thee most insensitive, tasteless, cruelest group I have ever seen. Not only have they compared the 'slaying' of animals to blacks and slavery now they are likening it to the crucifixtion of Christ? And in front of a Cathedral in Vienna? AND on Good Friday? How insensitive can this group be and how nuts are they really to take a Holy Day and smear it and use it for their own 'religious' agenda.

Row over 'crucifix' protest

Vienna - A row erupted on Thursday over plans by animal protectionists to symbolically "crucify" three activists with animal masks in a Good Friday protest outside Vienna's St Stephan's Cathedral.

The militant pro-animal group PETA said the activists would be suspended from crosses with crowns of thorns on their heads.

The slogan of the protest action would be "We suffer and die for your sins of nourishment."

PETA said its aim was to catch the attention of consumers who ignored the suffering of animals.

Head of Vienna's central 1st district, conservative People's Party (VP) politician Ursula Stenzel, condemned the plan.

Her office spokesperson Angelika Mayrhofer-Battlogg spoke of "mockery of a religious community on one of the most important days of the Christians".

"The action would be more blasphemy than animal protection."

The Archdiocese of Vienna said: "It's a completely unacceptable falsification of the religious dimension of Good Friday."

As well-intentioned as the animal protectionists might be, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ was not suited "to transport secondary messages".

The square outside the cathedral was a "sensitive" place where not anything could be permitted to happen, it added.

If I were to actually be the 'sailor' that I am, this post would be laced with some of the nastiest things I could think of to say about this activist group. It is groups like this that make me rebel, that make me eat meat, that make me fight against feminism, that make me fight to stop abortion. It is groups like this that are ruining this country, that threaten peoples lives if those people don't agree with the others agenda. I am really angry right now, not because I'm some religious nut but because this group is so disrespectful to humans.

Animals are great, I've made that point before in the past. If not for animals, science wouldn't even have a leg to stand on. Hell, half these groups of people wouldn't be here or have medicine for their illness'. But I've been over this before. It's pointless. Not only does PETA have poor taste (or perhaps they think that by using such examples they might actually 'touch' someone) but they are a violent group. Bombs, threatening phone calls to families, smashing cars, dumping the carcuses of dead cats and dogs into another property's dumpster to hide their real side AFTER they told the owners that they were going to find homes for these animals that they killed.

This group just disgusts me. Save the animals but can it not be done in a more respectful, harmless way? Does this group really have to be so nasty and violent and insensitive? Oh wait, I'm the insensitive one because I find this act to be tasteless and a horrible way in which to display one's love for animals.

Give me a damn break!!!!!!

Fringe groups are no fun, and yeah, when they do harmful things to people, that's bad. But if they do stupid shit like this, just let them implode. They are just standing up for what they believe, in the way that people with pictures of mangled babies protested outside of abortion clinics. It's speech, and baby, it's free.

I've had dealings with these freaks personally. A boutique I worked in sold fur and we'd get protested every weekend. They would call in bomb threats, yell at us and our customers, follow us down the street and call us names...it was crazy. Of course most of them would protest wearing leather shoes, coats etc.

Exactly Kevin. I worked in a mall, and our store was right across from Needless Markups, uh, Neiman Marcus. They sold fir. So the PETA folk would hang out with their signs of impending death, scaring toddlers and old ladies to death.

I finally got sick of looking at them.I went over to tell them to bleep off, the mall is private property.

Got into a little row with one guy, who was beet red and looked just about to explode when I turned to walk away, and said,"Nice shoes." (Suede Birkenstocks). He shut up pretty fast.

PETA: Nothing but a bunch of self righteous bleeping bleepity bleeps. They can take their terrorist actions and shove them right up their bleeping bleeps. And while I'm at it, I will enjoy a big fat juicy burger slathered in bacon, and if they have anything to say about that, I'll simply tell them to bleep the bleeping bleep off.

it's Kelly actually.... yes, we would have our fun with them when they were in front or inside of our store. Eventually it got so bad that we had to hire a Police Officer to work at the store. I consider both PETA and ALF to do be terrorists.

The both threaten and are violent to get their message out.

Sorry Kelly, not Kevin. : )

ELF burned down some condo's being built about 3 blocks from my house a couple of years ago.

All they managed to do was waste all the time and construction materials already used, and pollute the sky with smoke and the earth with ashes. Bleeping bleeptards.
