We're a nation of laws for a frickin' reason.
Call me a little late on catching this story, but last Wednesday - WP reports that Sandy 'the Burglar' Berger was nailed by Virginia police for driving 88 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Berger landed before the same magistrate who sentenced him on September 8th for stealing and illegally disposing of classified documents. Berger was caught speeding only two days into his two-year probation.
The Burglar claims he was late to a meeting and didn't know how fast he was driving.
Shouldn't he get extra jail time just for being a public official and giving that stupid of an excuse?!
Berger was already let-off way too easy once - with a $50,000 fine and 100 hours of "community service" for violating laws concerning the handling of National Secrets and Classified Documents. I'd volunteer 100 of my hours just to be the guy who validated Berger's community service! I guarantee he wouldn't be making phone calls or writing letters!
There are public restrooms that need to be scrubbed!
He blew his probation, however. Whatever maximum penalty he didn't get on the account of his political prowess ought to be thrown at him swiftly, surely and severely.
Anything less is a travesty.
