The detainee was almost unconscious on the floor, with a pile of hair next to him. He had apparently been literally pulling his hair out throughout the night. On another occasion, not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room, and had been since the day before, with the detainee chained hand and foot in the fetal position on the tile floor.
Hmmm. Sounds plain terrible. This, ladies, gentlemen, and transgender folks, is what the Great Satan has been doing! This is what the most evil empire on this good Earth has been doing to captured Osama followers.
This terrible quote was taken from a leading terrorist in the Middle East, right? Wrong. This sympathetic quote to the Great Satan’s enemies came from the lips of Senator Dick Durbin (Democrat). Yes, an American leader said that, not a terrorist leader. But you could probably never tell the difference. But wait, let us finish this quote:
If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime -- Pol Pot or others -- that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.
Hmmm. Those described tortures definitely are what the Nazis, Soviets, and Pol Pot did. There is no doubt about it.
The Nazis were tame compared to what we have done. The Nazis gassed people. The Nazis mass murdered people. The Nazis would attach electrodes to genitals. The Nazis would use electrical shock. Yes, the Nazis were tame compared to what we have done.
The Soviets were angels compared to what we have done to these poor terrorists. I mean, how can rap music even try to compare with killing over 1.7 million people in gulags alone? Yes, the Soviets were compassionate compared to what we have done.
And then there is that darling of humanitarians all over the world, Pol Pot. Over two million Cambodians mass were murdered by Pol Pot. As you can see, lowering the temperature to freezing is far worse that anything Pol Pot ever did.
Now, let’s take a look at those deplorable tortures we have been subjecting these terrorist too.

Hmmm. Now this one is real torture. Have you ever had to listen to some of the rap out there (by the way, I am a rock ‘n roll kind of teen). This is, without a doubt, one of the most gruesome tortures I have ever been personally subjected to. Terrible, it just sends shivers down my spine to think about it.
Senator Durbin seems to have a somewhat romantic view of the butchers he described. In his mind, the Great Satan’s “torture” of terrorists is off the chart compared to what the Nazis, Soviets, and Pol Pot did. It makes me wonder – did Senator Durbin have a bad history teacher in school, or does Senator Durbin care more for the terrorist than he does for America? Honestly, it is hard to tell.

Bust a move, Caleb! The Senator is obviously suffering from the same maladaptive tendancies that result in old guys thinking it looks "Cool" to wear board shorts with Nike's. Ignore him, Young Jedi - he's just trying to "fit in."
We don't have air conditioning and whenever I get into an air conditioned area, I FREEZE! When a person is not used to air conditioning of course they will shiver.
These people are used to living in extreme heat from my understanding so how they can be suffering from too much heat, well, that is just some misguided politician who gets everything handed to him on a silver platter speaking.
If the man is pulling his hair out that certainly isn't something to blame on our troops. Afterall, this detainee is said to be doing this to himself.
The rap music, well, I agree with you on that one Caleb.

Brilliant piece Caleb. Have you considered the standard you are setting for the US Military? The folks I know in uniform are proud of their service and consider personal honor and discipline to be among the highest values of their chosen profession. They don't compare themselves to Pol Pot, Hitler or Stalin.
Their standards of conduct are very high, and they would reject your argument's implication that misdeeds below the atrocious threshhold of these three monstrous regimes is somehow undeserving of criticism or condemnation.
For all the absolutist morality of the right, this argument of yours is so incredibly relativist that it really is hard to believe you meant it at all.

If anybody is paying attention these are not necessarily "terrorists" at all, but merely detainees that have been convicted of absolutely nothing more than being of Middle Eastern descent and adhering to Islam.
