Bank forcing Christian group to close account due to their anti-gay stance

A Co-operative Bank in England is forcing a Christian group to close their bank account due to their anti-gay stance. The bank has given Christian Voice 30 days to take their business to another bank. This is based soley on the views held by the group. I went to the group's web site to see if this was some radical dangerous off the wall group. They were merely a group of people who hold conservative values based on the Bible. They opposed the BBC showing "Jerry Springer, The Opera". I often am so embarrassed that the Jerry Springer show is shown in other countries and hope that the people in other countries don't think that all Americans carry on like the people featured on the show. I applaud them for their efforts to steer people away from this trash.

In an
article about this matter the bank stated:

"A Co-operative Bank spokesman said: 'It has come to the bank's attention that Christian Voice is engaged in discriminatory pronouncements, based on the grounds of sexual orientation. This public stance is incompatible with the position of The Co-operative Bank, which publicly supports diversity and dignity, in all its forms, for our staff, customers and other stakeholders' ".

Apparently, according to this bank, diversity doesn't mean you can hold another viewpoint. There is freedom of abberant sexual conduct, but not freedom of speech. They claim to support diginity. I wonder if they think the Jerry Springer show is dignified?
