Scott scores twice today. first he Points the way to this story of the Religion Of Peace in action again.
DUBAI (AFP) - Ansar al-Sunna, an extremist group linked to the Al-Qaeda network, said in an Internet statement it had killed a Japanese contractor in Iraq and six of his Iraqi guards.
The statement, whose authenticity could not be verified, said al-Sunna fighters had ambushed a convoy as it was leaving the al-Walid military base near the restive city of Ramadi west of Baghdad.
Then to this story of the Iraqi Defense force taking initiative, This is good to see and is progress. I guess we can count on the Progressives to be blogging about this Progress as well huh? I won't know until i get down to that folder in my reader but i can always hope.
FALLUJAH, IRAQ --For two nights in a row, shadowy gunmen took a few potshots at the Iraqi soldiers that 1st Lt. Khalid Abdul Rahman Muhamad sent on patrol through Fallujah's Jolan district. That's hardly an uncommon occurrence, and typically, Muhamad would just report the incidents to U.S. marines tasked with securing the northwest section of this restive city. But this time, for the first time, Muhamad turned to Marine Corps Maj. Larry Huggins and offered his own plan to rout out the insurgents with a nighttime raid.
That may not seem like much of a development, but even such a nascent show of initiative is taken as evidence of progress.
The Lunatic Fringe has been frothing at the mouth over the Downing Street memo's. Wizbang puts an interesting perspective to it.
I believe that the memos released are, for the most part, accurate representations of actual official documents. But the significance of those memos have been vastly overstated. They are the OPINIONS of one person on what other people THOUGHT other people were THINKING. It's speculation piled upon presumption.
Rob over at Say Anything has a story about a french store refusing Oprah admission.
June 20, 2005 ? DON?T expect Oprah Winfrey (above) to accessorize with Hermes bags any time soon. Spies in Paris report that, in a stunning display of ignorance, the Hermes store in the City of Light refused entry to the talk show queen. ?Oprah didn?t have her hair done,? says a source. ?When she tried the door, they refused her entry because they have been ?having a problem with North Africans? lately? and obviously had no clue who she was.?
I have spent time in France and the story of their rudeness is not exaggerated in the least.
World Magazine Blog has Born Gay?
In an effort to prove sexual orientation is biological rather than a choice, scientists at Oregon State University are seeking to produce gay sheep by altering conditions in the womb.
That's interesting.
Jeff from the Shape of Days thinks it is time to have a Gitmo week. And i agree, the Gulag rhetoric from the left is getting tired and doesn't move the debate forward.
I have a feeling that it?s going to be a Gitmo week. At least I hope so. We need a Gitmo week. We need a national debate on what?s going on at Camp Delta, and whether we?re living up to our responsibility as the leader of the free world. I think the answer to that last question is yes, but the question is worth asking.
Soldiers Angel shares this opinion, one i agree with completely, She has a great blog and to my shame i have never left a comment to tell her that. I will fix that shortly.
Next rant...ever had this happen...your post is so well liked it is emailed, linked in forums and other blogs - yet you never got one trackback or more than 2 comments on it? If you think it is so good you need to share it with your friends - leave a comment and say so dammit! Ok, so this is all because I'm being whiny...oh well.
Here are the rest of the entries that caught my eye today:
